ORGANIC BLOOD ORANGE HYDROSOL (CITRUS X SINENSIS)

A hydrosol is an aqueous and aromatic gift of the steam/hydro distillation of botanicals. Hydrosol distillation is an ancient art and practice that can be traced back over 4,000 years to Cypress and the island of Aphrodite, where remnants of clay stills containing lavender, rosemary, bergamot and other plants were found. 

Hydrosols are gentle and offer a wide range of benefits to the skin and spirit. They are composed of water-soluble compounds from the plant, cellular water from within the plant, and trace amounts of essential oils. Hydrosols support pH balance, radiance, skin hydration, and work in harmony with our facial serum to deliver the therapeutic compounds of the plant promoting skin barrier function. Blood Orange has a lovely sweet citrus aroma, is uplifting and energizing, supports inflamed skin, may reduce redness, helps to relax facial muscles, and is supportive for oily and congested skin. Blood orange does not contain any furanocoumarins, meaning it is not photosensitizing. 

Our blood orange hydrosol is made from fresh certified organic blood oranges so that all the hydrophilic properties are present when distillation begins - this makes for the highest quality hydrosol. It is distilled in copper alembic stills (as opposed to stainless steel), which remove the yeast and sulfur and gives it a sweeter aroma. Copper is anti-microbial which helps to preserve the hydrosol.

Our Blood Orange Hydrosol is not a byproduct of essential oil production, it is distilled for the hydrosol only in small batches under constant supervision and is the freshest and of the highest quality.

On hot summer days, place our hydrosol in the fridge and once it's cold, generously mist face and neck for lovely refreshment and relief. 

Hydrosols should be stored in a cool dark place; however, we believe that you should be able to see your hydrosol due to them being a fresh/perishable product, which is why we package it in clear glass.
